Principal’s Notes

5 April 2010

Spring has definitely sprung!!  Life at MHS is in that final fast and furious quarter!

We are very proud of the Lady Warrior basketball team who placed 2nd at the state tournament March 11-13.  An additional honor was that Marion High School, including its cheerleaders, student section, pep band, and adult fan section, received a KSHSAA Sportsmanship Plaque.  As soon as it arrives, we will have an assembly to recognize what a good job our cheerleaders/students/fans did at the tournament.

Because this quarter is long and due to all of the hoopla, we will run our first eligibility list on Monday, April 12, and MHS will not send out progress reports until April 23.

Prom is this weekend.  The promenade begins at 6:30, followed by the banquet at 7:00.  The dance is in the middle school gym from 9:00-12:00.  After-prom is at the Sports and Aquatic Center.

Also this week, on May 7, any student who is taking the ACT and would like a quick review may sign up in the office.  Mr. Stuchlik, Mr. Rhodes, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs. Killough will rotate students through going over practice questions and sharing test taking strategies.

On Thursday, May 8, many of the Marion County law enforcement professionals (Police Chief Whitwell, County Attorney Robson, Sheriff Craft) will meet with students and discuss the laws which pertain to them.

We are going to do the senior academic awards a little differently.  Instead of having that assembly during the day, we will recognize seniors at 7:00 on May 13.  We hope that having it in the evening will allow more parents to attend and make the honors they receive a bit more special.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns either by phone or by e-mail:  odgerbre@usd408.com.
