So what have I been up to? Well quite a bit actually. A lot
of my time is spent researching connections for teachers and
students. Once I find them I email the teachers and for the one's
interested I set up the connections.
I went to the MACE, Mid-America Association for Computers in
Education Conference March 5th & 6th. The conference is
designed for educators to go to different types of classes to learn
about the latest technologies available for education. I had a great
time and learned a lot. Some people I saw up there was Chad
Tischauser and his wife. Chad teaches in Centre and is a
tech-geek (in the god sense). I sat with them during the
keynote speaker who was fantastic! One of the coolest things
he did was to ask everyone to bring out, ues bring out their cell
phones. He then took an online poll where we responded by texting
the poll to give our answer. Teachers get ready for phones to be
used in the classroom.
One class I attended was; Kansas Technology Initiatives: the
state discussed changes with Technology Plans and erate.
Pretty interesting but not too fun.
Another class I went to was about One-to-one laptops for
students. This was extremely interesting as our districts
begin looking at the same thing. I learned some pros and cons about
them as well as the education needed for teachers, parents, and
students in order to utilize the laptops effectively in the
classroom.
I also learned how dangerous websites like Livewire really
is! Not only is it illegal but when you have the application on you
computer, people all over the web have access to your files.
Hopefully you do not keep bank accounts and such on your computers!
I went to a lot of other classes as well and had a lot of fun.
The next conference I am going to is April 6th-9th! This
one is in Corpus Christi, Tx! I am so excited but very nervous
too. I do not like to travel by myself. But the conference is
all about the IDL network. I hope I come bah with many ideas
about our network. We are doing very well with the IDL
classes. Next year, there will be over 20 classes offered, up
3 times more than this year. When I get back I will will have to
update everyone! |
